About Bristol Heat Pumps

In short
Bristol Heat Pumps is an information and introduction service for people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset who are thinking about an air source heat pump. We publish guides on costs, grants, planning and running costs, and we pass enquiries from this site to a local heat pump installer.
We don’t install, service or repair heat pumps ourselves. When this site talks about installation, servicing or repair work, that work is carried out by an independent installer from our network, who is responsible for the survey, quote and installation.
Why the site exists
Getting a heat pump is a large decision, often more than £10,000 before the grant, and the right answer depends heavily on the house. Bristol’s housing is unusually varied: Georgian stone terraces, Victorian brick and Pennant-stone streets, interwar semis and modern flats, much of it in conservation areas. Generic national advice doesn’t always fit.
So the guides on this site are written around Bristol: its housing, its councils, its hard water, its mild climate and the grants available locally. You’re welcome to use them whether or not you ever send us an enquiry.
How enquiries work
When you send the form, your details go to one local heat pump installer from our network, who contacts you about a survey and quote. Your enquiry isn’t sent to a list of companies, sold, or added to a marketing list. We don’t keep a copy once it has been passed on.
The installer, not us, carries out the survey, provides the quote, applies for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant and does the work. Your contract is with them.
How installers are chosen
Before we pass enquiries to an installer, they must be MCS-certified (which the £7,500 grant requires) and actively work in the Bristol area. We also look at TrustMark registration, manufacturer approvals and heat pump-specific training. The criteria, and how you can check any installer yourself, are on our methodology page.
Whoever you use, we’d encourage you to run your own checks too. Our guide to choosing an installer explains how.
Who runs the site
Bristol Heat Pumps is operated by Bartram (Robert Alsop, Individual Entrepreneur), Tbilisi, Georgia. Tax ID: 306572731.
Running a UK-facing service from outside the UK is unusual, so we state it plainly here. The operator researches and writes the site and handles enquiries; the installations are carried out by UK-based installers.
